Rangers boss Danny Rohl has revealed that Joe Rothwell missed the Europa League clash against Roma due to illness. The midfielder was not included in the matchday squad for the 2-0 defeat at Ibrox, with Rohl confirming that he’s been under the weather in recent days.
Rothwell, who has been a regular feature on the bench lately, was forced to sit out Thursday night’s European tie and is also a major doubt for Sunday’s Premiership trip to Dundee.
Speaking to Sky Sports, Rohl explained:
“So far, everyone is available. Just Joe is a little bit ill, but all other players are available, and this is important for us to take the squad again. I think there could be a couple of changes. We need energy, we need fresh legs, and some players should get opportunities and then they have to show.”
Aside from Rothwell’s absence, Rohl confirmed there are no fresh injury concerns within the squad. However, with fatigue setting in after a busy run of fixtures, the German coach hinted he could make a few rotations to inject new energy into his starting XI for the weekend clash.
