Montreal Alouettes’ QB Davis Alexander break silence over his injury fitness and gives his verdict if he will be able to participate in Grey Cup after the Eastern Final win against Hamilton Tiger-Cats

Davis Alexander Confident He’ll Be Ready for Grey Cup Despite Hamstring Scare

Montreal Alouettes quarterback Davis Alexander insists he’ll be fit for next week’s Grey Cup, brushing off concerns after appearing to aggravate his hamstring during the late stages of the East Final victory over the Hamilton Tiger-Cats.

“There’s no doubt you’ll see me next week,” Alexander told TSN’s Matthew Scianitti after the game. “We feel like we’re made for this. Whoever we play, it’s going to be an incredible game and atmosphere. We’re built on competition, and that’s what we’ll bring next week.”

The 27-year-old signal-caller appeared to grab his left hamstring midway through the fourth quarter after being tackled near the sideline on a second-down play. Montreal failed to move the chains, setting up a 23-yard Tiger-Cats field goalthat tied the score at 16-16 with under two minutes left.

Despite the scare, Alexander stayed in the game and led a composed seven-play, 37-yard drive, setting up José Maltos Díaz’s dramatic 45-yard, game-winning field goal as time expired.

The five-foot-eleven, 210-pound quarterback completed 19 of 26 passes for 210 yards, with one touchdown and one interception, connecting on a deep strike to Tyler Snead for the score. He also added 64 rushing yards on seven carriesin what proved to be a tight, defense-dominated contest.

Alexander, a native of Gig Harbor, Washington, has battled hamstring issues all season, missing 11 regular-season games. The difference with him under center has been stark — Montreal went 7-0 in his starts and just 3-8 without him, relying on McLeod Bethel-Thompson, Caleb Evans, and James Morgan during his absence.

With Saturday’s win, the Alouettes booked their spot in the Grey Cup for the second time in three years. Montreal famously defeated the Winnipeg Blue Bombers 28-24 in the 110th Grey Cup in 2023 and will now face the winner of the West Final in the 112th Grey Cup at Princess Auto Stadium in Winnipeg.
