Celtic have suffered yet another setback on the injury front after Marcelo Saracchi was forced off during the first half of their clash with Kilmarnock. The Uruguayan full-back pulled up just after the 20-minute mark while chasing down a through ball on the overlap, immediately signalling to the bench for assistance.
Referee Don Robertson halted play as Saracchi received treatment, with the defender clutching his right hamstring — a worrying sign for Celtic’s already depleted squad. Kieran Tierney was readied on the touchline and swiftly introduced as the replacement. Although a stretcher was brought out, Saracchi declined its use and managed to walk off the pitch under his own power — a small encouragement that the problem may not be as severe as first feared.
Even so, it adds to Celtic’s growing injury list, with Kelechi Iheanacho, Alistair Johnston, Cameron Carter-Vickers, and Callum Osmand already sidelined, while Jota remains unavailable. The Parkhead side are now running thin on options as they continue to battle through a congested fixture schedule.
At the time of Saracchi’s withdrawal, Celtic were leading 1-0 thanks to an early strike from Johnny Kenny — his fourth goal in as many games under interim boss Martin O’Neill.
