Kris Boyd criticises Danny Rohl’s celebrations after Rangers’ 3–0 win over Dundee
Kris Boyd has taken aim at Danny Rohl for his post-match celebrations following Rangers’ 3–0 victory over Dundee on Sunday.
The German boss saw his side deliver a strong performance at Dens Park as the Light Blues returned to Scottish Premiership action in style. Nico Raskin opened the scoring after nine minutes with a well-placed header from James Tavernier’s cross, before youngster Mikey Moore netted his first goal for the club. Djeidi Gassama then sealed the win late on with a composed finish in the 90th minute.
Rohl’s jubilant reaction to the result — celebrating passionately with the travelling supporters — didn’t sit well with Boyd, who questioned the manager’s behaviour live on Sky Sports Football.
“I’m not quite sure about that,” Boyd said. “Just get back in and speak to your players. I understand wanting to connect with the fans, but when you start losing matches, you stop doing it. We need to keep winning games of football.”
The Rangers supporters, however, were delighted, giving their team and Rohl a standing ovation after full-time. The head coach responded with several fist pumps to chants from the away end — a moment of connection not seen since the Steven Gerrard era.
For Boyd, though, Rohl’s touchline passion was a step too far, even on a day when Rangers convincingly returned to winning ways after their midweek defeat to Roma.
