Norwich City are reportedly considering Gary O’Neil, Russell Martin, and Will Still as potential candidates to replace Liam Manning.
Journalist Rob Butler reports that the Canaries aim to appoint Manning’s successor before the team returns from the international break. Sporting director Ben Knapper is believed to be leading the search, with owner Mark Attanasiotaking a more hands-on role this time.
Manning’s tenure has been short-lived, spanning just 15 league games, as the team struggled to a disappointing start to the season. Norwich currently sit 23rd in the Championship, four points from safety, putting pressure on the club to make the right managerial decision.
All three candidates are currently unattached to clubs: O’Neil recently withdrew from consideration for a Wolves return, while Martin and Still were sacked earlier this season by Rangers and Southampton, respectively. Each is seen as capable of improving Norwich’s fortunes, but as Manning’s short stint demonstrated, success is far from guaranteed.
Knapper’s position could also come under scrutiny if the club fails to turn around its form under the next manager, and Attanasio’s increased involvement signals a lack of complete trust in the sporting director to oversee the hiring alone.
