Main reason revealed why Swansea City sacked their head coach Alan Sheehan

Swansea City have decided to part ways with Alan Sheehan after their 4-1 defeat to Ipswich Town. The Athletic reports that the 39-year-old’s dismissal comes after a disappointing start to the season.

Sheehan had taken over earlier this year following a brief but successful spell as interim boss, replacing Luke Williams. However, he lasted just six months into his three-year contract. The club, currently 18th in the Championship, is now searching for a permanent replacement.

Here are three managers Swansea could consider next:

Brendan Rodgers
Rodgers is available after resigning from Celtic in late October. The Northern Irishman has a strong connection to Swansea, having managed the club from 2010 to 2012. He led the Swans to Premier League promotion in 2011 and an impressive 11th-place finish in their first season at the top.

With ambitious new owners in place, a statement appointment like Rodgers could be huge. If he’s willing to step down to the Championship, his familiarity with the club could make him an ideal candidate.

Russell Martin
Martin, another former Swansea boss, is also on the market. His previous spell at the club saw the team in the mix for a play-off spot before he moved to Southampton. He could bring back the passing style fans felt Sheehan abandoned.

While Martin’s reputation has dipped slightly after a tricky stint in Scotland, his experience at this level and familiarity with Swansea could make him a smart choice.

Michael Carrick
Carrick is free after leaving Middlesbrough in the summer. Despite falling short of promotion at Boro, he kept his team competitive even as key players were sold.

Swansea could offer Carrick stability and transfer backing, giving him the tools to instil an identity and steady the team. He knows how to compete in the Championship and could quickly turn the Swans’ form around, helping them avoid a relegation battle.
