Danny Röhl’s transfer plans for Rangers striker position unveiled ahead of January window

Danny Röhl’s Rangers striker plan revealed ahead of January transfer window

Danny Röhl may have to make do with his current attacking options at Rangers rather than signing a new striker in January, sources have told Football Insider.

Röhl took charge at Ibrox following Russell Martin’s departure, with the German coach inheriting a side sitting fourth in the Scottish Premiership — 12 points behind league leaders Hearts. The club’s lack of attacking firepower has been a major concern, following the exits of several key players.

Over the summer, Hamza Igamane joined Lille and Cyril Dessers sealed a late move to Greek side Panathinaikos, while Vaclav Černý returned to Wolfsburg after his loan spell expired. Despite bringing in Youssef Chermiti from Everton and Bojan Miovski, Rangers have struggled to replace the lost goals.

According to insiders, Röhl could be forced to rely on his existing forwards to bridge the gap, with the Ibrox hierarchy reluctant to sanction major spending in January.

The plan is to give Chermiti another chance to prove himself under the new boss, despite a difficult start to life in Glasgow. The 21-year-old has scored just once in the league so far — in the 3-1 win over Kilmarnock — but will reportedly be given the opportunity to rediscover his form in the coming months.
