Tottenham Hotspur eye Rangers star Nicolas Raskin amid January transfer speculation
Tottenham Hotspur have emerged as serious contenders to sign Rangers midfielder Nicolas Raskin during the January transfer window, according to Football Insider. The Belgian international has been a standout performer for Rangers since joining from Standard Liège in January 2023, making 116 appearances, scoring eight goals, and providing 16 assists.
Operating as a defensive midfielder, Raskin’s performances at Ibrox have earned him a regular spot for Belgium, where he has featured in all eight of his international caps in 2025, scoring once and playing a key role in their World Cup qualifying campaign.
The 25-year-old is widely regarded as ready for a step up to the Premier League. However, Rangers are cautious about letting him go, particularly given his stellar performances under manager Danny Rohl. With 18 months remaining on his contract, Raskin has previously shown an interest in exploring other options, and Rangers may consider offers around £20 million.
While Tottenham are reportedly leading the chase, other clubs—including Wolves, Aston Villa, West Ham, and two Italian sides—are also believed to be monitoring the midfielder. Where Raskin would slot into Spurs’ midfield remains uncertain, given the presence of players like Joao Palhinha, Lucas Bergvall, Pape Matar Sarr, and Rodrigo Bentancur.
Rangers have already seen the benefits of a Tottenham player on loan in Mikey Moore, who has gradually adapted to the physical demands of Scottish football and begun showing the potential that made him a standout at academy level.
Another potential element in any Raskin deal could be Wales international Ben Davies, who has been with Spurs for 11 years, amassing 358 appearances and offering experience and versatility across left-back and central defence. Davies could bring leadership and defensive stability to Rangers while also allowing Tottenham to manage their surplus players.
If Raskin were to depart, Rangers could also consider short-term solutions, such as a six-month loan for a young talent like Archie Gray, giving him the chance to gain experience while filling the void left by the Belgian international. Spurs have several quality youngsters and experienced players who have struggled for game time under Thomas Frank, making a player exchange or loan move a logical option for both clubs.
