Callum Osmand Reveals First Picture After Surgery

Callum Osmand has posted a photo marking the start of his rehabilitation from the hamstring injury that cruelly halted what had been a remarkable two weeks for the young Celtic forward.

After scoring in a Glasgow Derby semi-final at Hampden — celebrating in front of the Celtic supporters and firmly staking his claim as part of Martin O’Neill’s senior squad — his momentum was abruptly stopped. It was later confirmed that Osmand had sustained a severe hamstring tear that required surgery.

He has now shared the first update on his comeback: a picture of himself on crutches, his leg secured in a full brace, but still managing a smile despite the difficult recovery ahead.

His rise quickly turned painful during the match against Midtjylland, where the teenager collapsed in visible agony and was carried off the field in tears. The expectation is that he will face an extended period out of action, and Celtic plan to be extremely cautious with the 19-year-old’s recovery process. The club hopes the rehabilitation goes as smoothly as possible so that he may return before the season ends, ready to impress whoever takes over as the permanent manager.

The recovery clinic supporting him also posted on Instagram, writing: “We’re pleased to welcome Celtic striker Callum Osmand for his post-surgery recovery.

“After suffering a recent hamstring tear, Callum sought out resources to speed up his return to the pitch. We offer Glasgow’s only medical-grade pressure Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy.

“The dramatic impact of enhanced oxygen saturation is transformative for athletes, giving them the cellular boost needed to potentially heal up to 75% faster than typical recovery methods.

“We’re fully committed to helping @callum.osmand and can’t wait to see him playing again.”

Osmand had been one of the standout positives since O’Neill stepped in, seizing his opportunity and injecting energy into a squad hit hard by injuries.

Now, everyone at Celtic will be hoping for a smooth recovery and a quick return to the pitch where he made such an electric early impression.

The club is currently dealing with several hamstring problems across the squad, with fellow striker Kelechi Iheanacho, Marcelo Saracchi, and Alistair Johnston all sidelined, while Colby Donovan was carried off during Scotland Under-21 duty.
