Revealed: Rangers’ latest signing required a £260,000 exit payment, making the January deal exceed £4.3 million

Rangers are among several clubs monitoring Berkay Yilmaz, who has been impressing in the 2. Bundesliga. The 20-year-old wide player, currently on loan at Nurnberg from Freiburg, has produced four goal contributions this season and is drawing significant attention.

With Rangers looking to strengthen their squad after a disappointing summer window, the club is believed to hold genuine interest in the Turkish youth international.

According to BILD (27 November), Freiburg could recall Yilmaz in January for £260,000, although a mid-season move is considered “off the table” as he is settled at Nurnberg and wants to finish the campaign there. Freiburg are expected to value him at around £4.38m.

Speculation around Rangers has increased due to Jayden Meghoma’s dip in form, prompting rumours that reinforcements may be required.

Long-term, Freiburg intend to keep Yilmaz, but with clubs across Europe watching closely, his future remains uncertain. A move to Ibrox could represent a major upgrade for Rangers and possibly a bargain signing, especially if Danny Rohl faces a tight transfer budget.

Rangers and Toulouse are both interested ahead of the January window, alongside several Dutch clubs.

Additionally, teams from the Bundesliga, Serie A, and La Liga are tracking his progress, with Yilmaz hoping to play in one of those top-tier leagues next season.
