Derek Ferguson Offers Solution for Oliver Antman’s Struggles at Rangers
Rangers pundit Derek Ferguson believes he knows how to turn around Oliver Antman’s disappointing start to the season.
The Finland international struggled once again in Rangers’ 0-0 draw with Falkirk on Sunday, drawing criticism from fans and pundits alike. Antman joined Rangers from Go Ahead Eagles in July for a fee that could rise to £5 million, but he has yet to score a goal for the club.
Ferguson suggests that a positional change could help Antman rediscover his form. The 24-year-old shone during Rangers’ Champions League qualifying matches against Viktoria Plzen, but confidence issues arose after then-manager Russell Martin began to overlook him.
Mikey Moore was often selected ahead of Antman during August and September, despite his own inconsistent performances, further affecting the young winger’s confidence.
Under Danny Rohl, Antman has started only three of nine matches, and in total, he has featured in just six of Rangers’ 13 Premiership games this season.
Ferguson believes that moving him to the left could help him regain his rhythm and confidence, allowing the Finland international to finally live up to the expectations that accompanied his £5 million move.
