Following a surprising jab at Manchester United captain Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s arrival, Bruno Fernandes has expressed his sentiments.Bruno Fernandes, captain of Manchester United, has expressed his sentiments regarding the arrival of incoming minority owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe in the midst of the British billionaire’s unexpected criticism.

Manager Erik ten Hag appointed the Portugal international permanent captain of United at the start of this season, succeeding Harry Maguire in the position.

The Dutchman reportedly declared Fernandes the new captain in front of the locker room prior to consulting the midfielder himself, demonstrating such confidence in his choice.

However, during the previous campaign, the 29-year-old frequently filled in for Maguire when he was unavailable or not selected, including in March’s catastrophic 7-0 rout at Anfield at the hands of Liverpool. When the book ‘INEOS: Grit, Rigour and Humour’ was published in July, Ratcliffe authored the introductory chapter that provided a retrospective analysis of the petrochemicals company he established over the past quarter-century.However, despite the book being predominantly written from a business standpoint, the young United supporter still managed to mention Ten Hag’s squad, albeit with perhaps the least amount of admiration.

Ratcliffe recounted an incident from a rugby match he attended while on a journey to the Cook Islands: a player with a broken leg was being carried away in the back of a pickup truck. He continued by stating: “A far cry from Bruno Fernandes clutching his untouched face in the Liverpool debacle recently.”

While the reference might have been a lighthearted jest intended to ridicule the midfielder, the inclusion of the remark may have surprised certain individuals.

Meanwhile, speaking after United’s 3-2 Boxing Day victory over Aston Villa, Fernandes made it clear that while he appreciates the possibility of the INEOS founder signing new players, the players’ routine continues in the wake of the impending announcement of Ratcliffe’s debut as the club’s minority owner.

When queried by Amazon Prime regarding whether the players had engaged in discussions regarding Ratcliffe or the announcement, he responded, “In all honesty, not much, as it will not significantly impact our approach on the field. Aside from the possibility that they acquire new players who have the potential to impact our team.Aside from that, it is up to us to make the necessary difference on the field.

“We see everything on social media and in the newspapers; it is currently impossible not to be exposed to it.”

“Despite our awareness of the current challenges faced by the club, our approach on the field will remain unaffected.

“We focus on ourselves and the team and what we control, which is yourself and our performance.”
