Rangers have approached a well-regarded LaLiga sporting director regarding a possible appointment

Real Betis have emerged as one of Spain’s most impressive and stylish sides as they push for European qualification and potentially even a Champions League place.

Under Manuel Pellegrini, the club has steadily progressed each season, securing European football every year, lifting the Copa del Rey, and even reaching their first-ever European final in last season’s Conference League. But Pellegrini is not the only key figure behind their rise.

Radio Marca reports that Betis’ transfer work has caught the attention of clubs across Europe. Despite limited spending power, the Andalusian club have assembled one of LaLiga’s strongest and most balanced squads.

However, persuading Sporting Director Manu Fajardo to leave right now could prove challenging. The squad is settled, Pellegrini recently renewed his contract, and Fajardo is believed to be very content in Seville.

Rangers interested in Betis chief

Fajardo, aged just 40, has become one of the most admired young sporting directors in Europe. Initially part of Betis’ scouting department, he took over after Ramon Planes’ departure and has excelled in the role.

Matteo Moretto reports that Rangers have contacted Fajardo about a possible move to Glasgow, although Italian clubs are also monitoring his situation.

Fajardo’s record speaks for itself: he oversaw the loan and eventual permanent signing of Antony, brought in experienced players like Diego Llorente, Giovani Lo Celso, and Álvaro Valles, and secured a profitable sale of Chadi Riad.

Betis preparing for January moves

Betis are expected to be active in the upcoming transfer window.

Veteran left-back Ricardo Rodríguez was predicted to leave in the summer but ended up staying, and the club are now looking for fresh options in that position.

They may also target a new forward in January, with Ez Abde and Cédric Bakambu set to depart for the Africa Cup of Nations. Betis attempted to add attacking reinforcements on deadline day and could revive their search soon.
