Newcastle are reportedly planning a surprise January move for a Chelsea player earning £80,000 a week who has struggled to impress

Several clubs are reportedly preparing concrete approaches for Chelsea’s French centre-back Axel Disasi ahead of the January transfer window.

Borussia Dortmund are looking to reinforce their defence for the second half of the season, and Disasi’s profile—his physicality, aerial ability, and comfort on the ball—fits their requirements perfectly.

Although his contract at Chelsea runs until 2029, limited playing time and changing priorities at Stamford Bridge make a winter exit a possibility, with the club open to offers.

Galatasaray, Juventus, Newcastle United, and West Ham are also keeping close tabs on the situation, each seeking experienced defensive reinforcements. Juventus may consider a loan deal with an option to buy, helping them manage wages and amortisation.

Newcastle and West Ham see Disasi as a potential long-term solution suited to the Premier League’s physical style, while Galatasaray could turn to him as a short-term replacement if their preferred defensive target is unavailable.

Meanwhile, Olympique Lyonnais are reportedly considering a loan move during the Africa Cup of Nations to bolster squad depth. In this scenario, a deal until the end of the season with a modest loan fee could be agreed.

The possibility of a purchase option would give Chelsea added flexibility for the summer, depending on Disasi’s readiness and wage-sharing terms.
