Derby County boss John Eustace has delivered a comprehensive injury update ahead of Monday’s trip to Sheffield Wednesday — with mixed news for the Rams.
Max Johnston and Lewis Travis are edging closer to a return, while David Ozoh faces a longer spell on the sidelines.
Johnston (hamstring) and Travis (calf) have both stepped up their recoveries and are now back working on the grass. Eustace revealed that Johnston is around a week to 10 days away from rejoining the squad, while Travis is also making progress and could be back with the group within the next week.
However, the outlook is less positive for Ozoh. The on-loan Crystal Palace midfielder, who suffered a thigh injury in the 2–1 win over Blackburn, is still expected to be out for another three to four weeks.
Speaking ahead of the Hillsborough clash, Eustace said:
“Ozoh’s still probably three or four weeks away. Max Johnston is close as well — he’s about a week to 10 days away. The sooner we get the squad back fit, the better, especially with a lot of games coming up. We’re looking forward to that.”
Eustace also confirmed that Carlton Morris remains unavailable with an ankle injury and is not expected back until February, while Owen Beck has returned to Liverpool after undergoing surgery on a hamstring issue.
