Tonda Eckert confirms fresh setback for Southampton ahead of Norwich City match

Tonda Eckert Reveals Potential Injury Blow for Tom Fellows Ahead of Norwich Clash

Southampton boss Tonda Eckert has confirmed that winger Tom Fellows sustained a groin injury during the Saints’ 3-2 midweek win over his former club, West Brom, but remains optimistic that it is not serious.

Fellows, who joined Southampton this summer in a deal reportedly worth up to £10 million, has been a key figure since his arrival at St Mary’s. The 22-year-old England Under-21 international has made 15 appearances for the Saints this season, contributing three assists, including one against the Baggies.

Initially, Fellows struggled to make an impact under former head coach Will Still, but he has begun to find his form, making his potential absence for Saturday’s Carrow Road clash against Norwich City a significant concern for Eckert.

Speaking about the injury, Eckert said:
“We’ll try everything to get Tom Fellows ready for tomorrow. He has a little struggle with the groin, so the medical department is on him, and we’ll try to make everything possible. He has been great in the last games. It’s never easy when you move away from your home club for the first time. Sometimes you need a couple of weeks to adjust to a new environment. It’s a pleasure to have him with us.”

Should Fellows be unavailable, Ryan Fraser is likely to step in at right wing-back, having covered the position multiple times this season.

Fellows’ absence would be a notable setback for Southampton, as he has proven himself one of the most direct and dangerous wingers in the division, first at West Brom and now at the Saints.
