Bojan Miovski’s early goal was one of the few positives on a frustrating night in Budapest, but Rangers head coach Danny Röhl has admitted concern over the injury that forced the striker off during the 2–1 loss to Ferencvárosi.
Speaking after the match, Röhl confirmed the club will closely monitor Miovski’s condition after the forward picked up a knock in the second half. While the initial signs are unclear, the manager acknowledged the issue could be more serious than first hoped, with medical assessments planned in the coming days.
“Bojan took a hit, and it might be a bit more than just a knock,” Röhl explained.
“We hope that’s not the case, but we need to examine him properly. Everyone needs to be fit for what’s ahead.”
Miovski continued his impressive run of form with another clinical finish, following his recent brace against Kilmarnock. His sharp instincts and spectacular overhead strike handed Rangers an early advantage, although they were unable to protect the lead.
Röhl was keen to stress the importance of Miovski’s contributions in recent weeks, highlighting how valuable the striker has been during a period where attacking consistency has been difficult to find.
“His goal was outstanding again,” he said.
“He’s shown what he can offer over the last few weeks. That’s something we really need. He gives us an important edge in the final third.”
Any potential absence would come at a challenging time for Rangers, who face Hibernian in the Premiership on Monday before entering a packed December schedule, ahead of their remaining Europa League fixtures in January.
With Danilo and Yousef Chermiti still searching for consistency, losing their most in-form forward would pose a significant selection headache for Röhl.
Miovski appeared to suffer the injury after taking a heavy blow in the second half and was subsequently withdrawn. Despite the concern, Röhl insisted the club will wait for full medical clarity before drawing conclusions.
“We’ll assess him and see where we are,” he added.
“Now we need to recover and focus on Monday. I want to see a team that fights for the next three points.”
If Miovski is sidelined, Rangers would not only lose a key attacking option but also risk disrupting the momentum the striker has built in recent weeks.
With goals proving difficult to come by this season and European qualification hopes fading, keeping their leading scorer fit could be vital to sustaining progress on the domestic front.
The next couple of days will be crucial in determining the extent of the injury — and whether Rangers must cope with yet another setback in a punishing European campaign.
