Celtic considering signing record-breaking striker after Julian Araujo deal

Celtic are reportedly set to complete a loan move for Bournemouth defender Julian Araujo this month, while Preston North End striker Milutin Osmajic has also emerged as a potential target, according to The Celtic Way.

Tuesday’s 2-0 loss to Motherwell at Fir Park exposed the current shortcomings in Wilfried Nancy’s squad, with Celtic second-best for large spells of the contest. If the Hoops are to mount a serious Premiership title challenge against Hearts and implement Nancy’s style of play effectively, reinforcements will be required during the January window.

Journalist Mike McGrath claims Bournemouth expect Araujo to join Celtic on a temporary deal until the end of the season. Talks between the two clubs are ongoing, with confidence growing that the move will be finalised. Should the 24-year-old arrive, he will compete with Alistair Johnston and Anthony Ralston for a starting role.

Celtic are also understood to be exploring striker options, with doubts surrounding Daizen Maeda’s form and Johnny Kenny still considered inexperienced.

Osmajic has been mentioned as a possible addition despite recent controversy, and his return to scoring form for Preston has reignited interest.

Saturday’s Old Firm clash against Rangers could prove decisive for Nancy, with defeat potentially allowing their rivals to draw level on points.
