Rangers prepare clear-out with Danilo and five others up for sale to boost Röhl funds

Danilo is among six players Rangers have made available for transfer during the January window as the club looks to reshape the squad and free up funds for Danny Röhl.

The Brazilian forward, who arrived from Feyenoord in 2023, has struggled to make a lasting impact at Ibrox and has scored just three goals this season. Rangers are now prepared to move him on in an effort to recover part of their investment. He is joined on the transfer list by Nedim Bajrami, Kieran Dowell, Clinton Nsiala and Rabbi Matondo.

Bajrami, an Albania international, has slipped out of favour in recent weeks and was already linked with a January exit under former manager Russell Martin. He has since been overtaken in the pecking order by Bojan Miovski and Youssef Chermiti.

Dowell, meanwhile, spent last season on loan at Birmingham City and has barely featured since returning to Ibrox.

Nsiala and Matondo have also been deemed surplus to requirements after limited opportunities, while Cameron—signed from Dundee in the summer—has struggled for game time under Röhl. With a transfer fee still to be settled by tribunal, Rangers believe a loan move would benefit the midfielder’s development.

The Light Blues are also expected to sanction Joe Rothwell’s return to the English Championship, with Sheffield United currently leading the race for his signature, although Derby County remain interested.

By moving on players with significant wages and transfer value tied up, Rangers aim to give Röhl greater financial flexibility in his first transfer window in charge.

The German coach is keen to put his own stamp on the squad and is expected to revisit a move for Josh Windass after an initial loan approach was rejected by Wrexham. A new left-back is also on the agenda, with AEK Athens defender James Penrice among those under consideration.
