Martin O’Neill set for Celtic comeback as Dermot Desmond breaks silence

Celtic have confirmed Martin O’Neill as manager until the end of the season following the dismissal of Wilfried Nancy.

Nancy was relieved of his duties on Monday after a difficult spell in charge, with his entire backroom staff and head of football operations Paul Tisdale also departing the club. In a major reshuffle, Celtic also announced the return of Shaun Maloney,

Mark Fotheringham and Stephen McManus to the coaching setup.

This marks O’Neill’s third stint in the Celtic dugout. He previously enjoyed a successful interim spell earlier in the campaign, winning seven of his eight matches in charge. The appointment also represents Celtic’s third managerial change of a chaotic season.

Speaking after his return was confirmed, O’Neill said he was honoured to be trusted with the role once again and paid tribute to his predecessor.

Principal shareholder Dermot Desmond echoed those sentiments, backing O’Neill to restore drive and direction during the closing months of the campaign.
