What’s next for Maeda? Celtic transfer updates on Jikiemi and Simpson-Pusey

All the latest Celtic transfer developments include updates on Daizen Maeda, Dara Jikiemi and Jahmai Simpson-Pusey as the January window approaches.

Martin O’Neill addresses Daizen Maeda’s Celtic future

Daizen Maeda’s long-term future at Celtic has been uncertain since the beginning of the campaign. The Japanese forward admitted last summer that he wanted to move on, but the club ultimately blocked a potential exit.

Speculation has continued into the current transfer window, with reports suggesting Maeda could still leave in January, although he would be open to remaining until after the World Cup. While his performances this season have been inconsistent, Celtic boss Martin O’Neill has confirmed he plans to speak directly with the winger before any decisions are made regarding his next steps.

Celtic halt Dara Jikiemi’s proposed Liverpool switch

Celtic supporters have grown accustomed in recent years to seeing highly-rated youngsters depart before establishing themselves in the first team, but the club have taken a firm stance over Dara Jikiemi.

The 15-year-old centre-back appeared close to sealing a move to Liverpool after the Premier League champions made an approach. However, the Hoops blocked the transfer due to a disagreement over compensation, putting a stop to the proposed switch for now.

Jahmai Simpson-Pusey completes Köln loan move

After an underwhelming and frustrating loan spell in Glasgow, Jahmai Simpson-Pusey has secured a fresh opportunity elsewhere.

The Manchester City defender has joined Bundesliga side Köln on loan after being recalled by his parent club. Speaking after completing the move, Simpson-Pusey described the transfer as a fresh start and expressed his excitement about contributing regularly for his new team this season.
