Huracán’s loan agreement with Rangers includes a purchase option that lets them buy part of Cortes’ rights during or after the loan, but it doesn’t trigger a straight full transfer immediately. Instead, the deal gives Huracán three opportunities to activate a buy option for 50 % of his playing rights at each stage of the loan.
The reported figures for these options are:
-
£1.35 million for the first window
-
£1.5 million for the second
-
£1.65 million for the third
Each of these would secure half of Cortes’ economic rights, meaning Huracán would pay roughly £1.3m–£1.65m at each checkpoint to own 50 % of the player. If they were to go through all three purchase stages, it implies a total tied to around £2.7m–£3.3m for full ownership, based on those slices.
After seeing his loan spell at Sporting Gijón cut short because of a lack of opportunities, the winger has now moved to Argentine top-flight side Huracán for the 2026 season.
Huracán have confirmed the deal includes an option to buy, with three separate chances to activate it—priced at £1.35m, £1.5m and £1.65m—to secure 50 per cent of the player’s registration.
