Rangers have been active in the transfer market during the winter window as Danny Rohl continues reshaping his squad for the remainder of the season.
The Ibrox boss has already added three new faces in January, with Andreas Skov Olsen the latest arrival following a loan move from Wolfsburg.
The Danish winger joins Tuur Rommens and Tochi Chukwuani as Rangers look to strengthen across the pitch ahead of a crucial run-in.
Those additions could yet be balanced by departures, with Nico Raskin among the players linked with a possible exit as the window enters its final fortnight. Activity has not been limited to incomings, with developments elsewhere catching the attention of Rangers players.
Dujon Sterling was among those to react on social media after a major Premier League transfer was confirmed. The defender, who has made five Scottish Premiership appearances this season, remains highly active online despite a campaign disrupted by injury.
Sterling shared his reaction after Marc Guehi completed a move from Crystal Palace to Manchester City, liking an Instagram post from the England international confirming the switch. The post included a message expressing pride and gratitude as Guehi begins a new chapter at the Etihad.
Although Sterling’s time at Rangers has been hampered by fitness issues, he has often proved a reliable option when available, with the defence noticeably impacted during his absences. Rohl has yet to enjoy a sustained spell with the full-back at his disposal since taking charge.
Guehi’s reported £20million move to City has been widely viewed as shrewd business, given his contract situation at Selhurst Park. The centre-back is expected to play a key role as Pep Guardiola’s side push for domestic success, with Champions League qualification already within reach.
Rangers will be hoping to mirror those ambitions as they continue their push at the top end of the Scottish Premiership against rivals Celtic and Hearts. Should the Light Blues secure a place in next season’s Champions League, a potential meeting with Manchester City — and Guehi — could be on the cards depending on the draw.
Scottish clubs have frequently crossed paths with English opposition in Europe in recent years, and another such encounter may yet lie ahead.
