Hull City striker lined up for shock departure to ease Liverpool transfer deal

Hull City are looking to create room in their squad as they push to complete further signings before the deadline. Striker Enis Destan is close to sealing a short-term loan switch to Belgian side Westerlo ahead of Monday night’s cut-off.

Destan has been out with a knee injury since the New Year’s Day defeat to Stoke City, though he was present at the MKM Stadium on Saturday to watch the Tigers secure a third straight win against Swansea City.

While the forward is not expected to return to full fitness until next month, he will continue his rehabilitation in Belgium and see out the season there, linking up with former Hull striker Allahyar Sayyadmanesh.

Westerlo currently sit 12th in the Belgian Pro League, just two points clear of the relegation places after 22 matches, and will hope Destan can make an impact once available.

The 23-year-old joined City permanently from Trabzonspor in the summer but arrived carrying a knee issue that disrupted his early progress. He missed the opening four league fixtures before making his debut as a substitute in the 2–2 draw at Swansea in September.

Destan scored his first goal in the 3–2 win over Portsmouth and followed that up the next week by putting City ahead at QPR, though the Tigers eventually fell to a 3–2 defeat.

Meanwhile, Hull are closing in on a deal for Koumas, who is capable of playing across the forward line. The move from Liverpool is expected to be finalised in the coming days, and he could feature at Ewood Park on Saturday if registered in time.

City are also set to confirm the signings of Paddy McNair and Toby Collyer within the next 48 hours. McNair has already returned to England, while Collyer is scheduled to arrive on Wednesday.

The Tigers have strengthened their attack earlier this window with the additions of Yu Hirakawa and Kieran Dowell.

With Collyer, McNair and Koumas nearing completion, Hull’s winter recruitment drive looks set to reach five new arrivals, despite operating under tight transfer restrictions.
