Bundesliga side Dortmund target Rangers star who may leave this window

Rangers could be facing an unwelcome transfer development after Borussia Dortmund reportedly sent scouts to monitor one of Danny Röhl’s key players.

The situation comes amid renewed attention around Youssef Chermiti. Not long ago, the striker was being viewed as a potential costly misstep at Ibrox following his move under Kevin Thelwell’s recruitment drive.

However, his fortunes have shifted, with the forward showing signs of progress and growing belief under Röhl, including important goals in major fixtures.

While there is still work to be done for the former Everton man to fully convince the support, his recent improvement has not gone unnoticed.

Reports suggest Rangers have already fielded a late bid from Fenerbahce, with the Turkish club said to have offered £13m — around £5m more than Rangers paid in the summer. Despite that, the Ibrox side are believed to have rejected the approach, insisting the striker is not available.

The decision may have raised eyebrows, but it underlines Rangers’ desire to stand by a player they view as a long-term asset, especially so soon after his arrival.

The onus is now on Chermiti to justify that faith as Rangers aim to chase down league leaders Hearts in the Premiership title race.
