Norwich City are reportedly weighing up a surprise move for an Ipswich Town player as they line up alternatives to Kasper Høgh.
The Canaries have been revitalised under Philippe Clement. When he took charge at Carrow Road, the club were hovering near the relegation zone, but a strong run of form has lifted them clear of danger.
Norwich have lost just four of Clement’s first 14 Championship matches, and recent performances — including an impressive result against Coventry City — have underlined their upward trajectory.
That resurgence has also shaped their transfer plans. Josh Sargent’s potential January exit no longer carries the same sense of crisis, but Norwich still want a suitable replacement. Bodo/Glimt striker Høgh has emerged as a leading target after catching attention with a standout performance against Manchester City.
However, interest in the Danish forward is growing, with other clubs, including Celtic, now reportedly in the mix. That increased competition has prompted Norwich to explore backup options to avoid being left short in attack.

One such name is Sammie Szmodics, with reports suggesting Norwich are considering a move for the Ipswich Town attacker. A deal would mark another piece of business between the East Anglian rivals this season following Marcelino Núñez’s earlier switch in the opposite direction.
Szmodics has found it difficult to establish himself this campaign, but he brings proven Championship experience and a reputation as a goal threat at this level. Former Blackburn manager Jon Dahl Tomasson previously praised his scoring instincts, confidence and growing leadership influence.
While questions remain over whether Szmodics would represent as strong an option as Høgh, Norwich appear determined to ensure they have alternatives lined up as the window nears its close.
