Rangers have joined a crowded race for Tromsø midfielder Jens Hjerto-Dahl as the transfer window enters its closing hours, reports suggest.
The Ibrox club are said to have emerged as contenders only recently, but they face stiff competition from across Europe.
Clubs including Besiktas, Lazio, Union Berlin, and Premier League sides Bournemouth, Liverpool and Everton are all credited with interest in the 20-year-old, who is being described as one of the most in-demand young players currently on the market.
However, Hjerto-Dahl is believed to favour a move to Besiktas and is reportedly waiting for the Turkish club to strike an agreement with Tromsø, despite other teams — including Bournemouth — putting forward stronger financial proposals.

Journalist Marco Conterio reports that Rangers are firmly in the mix, though it remains unclear whether Philippe Clement’s side will follow up with a formal late bid.
The Norway Under-21 international made his senior breakthrough in 2023 and has since featured 87 times for Tromsø, contributing 12 goals and nine assists from midfield. While he is under contract until the end of 2027, growing interest suggests he may be on the move sooner rather than later.
Clement has already indicated that further additions are possible before the deadline, with Rangers preparing for an intense title battle in the Scottish Premiership.
Elsewhere, Rangers are also continuing their search for attacking reinforcements. Leeds United striker Joel Piroe has been identified as a leading option, particularly with negotiations for Hansa Rostock forward Ryan Naderi proving difficult.
Rangers are thought to be exploring a loan deal for Piroe, though the Dutchman reportedly prefers to remain at Elland Road for the rest of the season despite limited minutes under Daniel Farke.
The 26-year-old has yet to find the net in the Premier League this campaign and has already turned down approaches from Championship clubs, further complicating Rangers’ hopes of securing a late attacking addition.
