Celtic make late push to land SC Freiburg forward on loan before deadline

Celtic are working to secure a loan deal for SC Freiburg forward Junior Adamu before Monday’s transfer deadline, according to Sky Sports journalist Anthony Joseph.

The Hoops are keen to add further attacking depth as they push for the Scottish Premiership title, with manager Martin O’Neill targeting reinforcements in the final days of the window. Adamu has now emerged as a serious option.

The 24-year-old is said to be awaiting the green light to travel to the UK, although Celtic face competition from other clubs also monitoring his situation. Time remains a key factor, with the clock ticking to finalise any agreement.

Adamu has scored two goals and provided one assist for Freiburg this season, following a return of four goals and two assists in the previous campaign. With over 200 senior appearances to his name, the Austria international would bring valuable experience to Parkhead.

Celtic have already been active this window, bringing in Mexican defender Julian Araujo from Bournemouth and Czech striker Tomas Cvancara from Borussia Monchengladbach, both on loan deals.

Stephen Welsh has been recalled from Motherwell, while Adam Montgomery has also returned from his spell at Livingston.

Whether Celtic can get the Adamu move over the line before the deadline remains to be seen.
