Bristol City still have time to add fresh faces before Monday’s transfer deadline as they look to respond to a difficult week.
The Robins were thrashed 5–0 at home by Derby County in their last outing, a result that saw them slip to ninth in the Championship standings. Gerhard Struber’s side now sit four points outside the play-off places, with Wrexham currently occupying sixth spot.
They return to action next weekend with a tough trip to the MKM Stadium to face Hull City, who are third in the table and pushing hard alongside Coventry City and Middlesbrough at the top end of the division.
Bristol City closing in on Noah Eile
According to Fabrizio Romano, Bristol City are close to finalising a deal for New York Red Bulls defender Noah Eile. The centre-back is expected to strengthen their defensive options, with the club racing to complete the move before Monday’s 7pm deadline.
Romano posted on X:
“Excl: Bristol City closing in on deal to sign Noah Eile from Red Bull New York for $4.2m total package. 23-year-old defender already said yes.”
Eile began his career with Bjärreds IF before joining Malmö’s academy in 2015. He progressed through the Swedish club’s youth ranks and signed his first professional contract in 2020. After making four senior appearances, he gained valuable experience during loan spells at Mjällby AIF.
He moved to New York Red Bulls in 2024 and has since featured 72 times in total, including 36 appearances in 2025, scoring twice.
A boost at the back
City see Eile as a player who can add depth and competition in defence, with room to develop further at just 23. Upon his arrival in the United States, Red Bulls sporting director Jochen Schneider described him as “a promising young defender”with top-flight experience in Sweden, while former head coach Sandro Schwarz praised his skillset and potential impact.
Bristol City supporters will be hoping for an immediate response from the team following the heavy defeat to Derby, where defensive issues were badly exposed. Tightening up at the back will be crucial, especially with Hull in strong form under Sergej Jakirovic, having won their last four matches.
