Andy Robertson and Declan Rice break silence on Oxlade-Chamberlain’s Celtic signing

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has officially pulled on the Celtic shirt.

After the January transfer window had closed, Celtic still had one final move to complete, bringing the experienced midfielder into their squad.

The club confirmed his arrival before Saturday evening’s Scottish Cup clash with Dundee, and he was presented to supporters on the Parkhead pitch ahead of kick-off.

Oxlade-Chamberlain later shared his excitement on Instagram, expressing how eager he is for the new challenge in Glasgow.

His post quickly drew attention, with several well-known names reacting — including Andy Robertson and Declan Rice.

The 32-year-old, who departed Turkish side Besiktas last summer, had been keeping fit while training with Arsenal in recent months, with some speculation suggesting he could have stayed in north London. Instead, he has opted for a fresh start with the Scottish champions.

When announcing the move on social media, Oxlade-Chamberlain said he “can’t wait” for what lies ahead at Celtic. In the comments section, Rice, Robertson, and others showed their support for the midfielder’s next chapter.

Robertson’s involvement in the reactions also sparked some discussion of its own.

The Liverpool left-back is set to be available on a free transfer this summer, leading to renewed talk about a possible move to Celtic — a link that has surfaced more than once in recent years. A proposed switch to Tottenham Hotspur previously fell through, keeping the door open for other options.

Much will depend on Celtic’s long-term plans, including their managerial situation, but the idea of Robertson and Oxlade-Chamberlain lining up together in Glasgow is one that has certainly caught fans’ attention.

Of course, that scenario would likely require Oxlade-Chamberlain to extend his stay beyond this season — something that could become realistic if his time at Parkhead gets off to a strong start.
