Rangers aimed to avoid a repeat of their shocking loss to Queen’s Park on Sunday as the sides met again in the Scottish Cup.
After Philippe Clement was dismissed, Barry Ferguson and Russell Martin also departed Ibrox, leaving Danny Rohl in charge. Rohl has already outshone most of his predecessors.
Dujon Sterling, who has battled injuries this season, returned ahead of schedule and was chosen to anchor the defence against Queen’s Park, partly due to his ball skills. However, speaking live on Premier Sports, Alan Hutton criticized Sterling’s performance. “Sterling has to do better,” Hutton said after a misplaced long ball.
This time, Rangers dominated, with Ryan Naderi scoring on his debut and James Tavernier netting twice in a five-goal first half. While some players still struggled, Rohl’s team showed no fear of upsets, unlike previous managers Clement and Martin.
With the Scottish Premiership title in sight, Rohl could also aim for a domestic double, putting him ahead of recent Rangers bosses.
Big games against Motherwell and Hearts loom, and Sterling will need to improve to make a difference. Rangers aren’t slowing down, and Queen’s Park won’t be repeating their fairytale.
