Police release statement on Rangers vs Celtic cup ticket arrangements
Following Rangers’ win over Queen’s Park and Celtic’s victory against Dundee, the Glasgow sides have been drawn together in the Scottish Cup quarter-finals.
In recent years, Old Firm derbies have seen restricted away support due to safety concerns, with recent matches allowing only around 2,000 travelling fans amid disputes between the clubs.
Police Scotland have now clarified that they will not determine ticket allocations for the upcoming fixture. A spokesperson said:
“Ticket allocation is a matter for the clubs and football authorities. A proportionate policing plan will be in place to maintain public safety and minimise disruption ahead of the fixture at Ibrox in March 2026.”
The final decision on the number of away supporters allowed is still pending.
