Fresh lawsuit launched against Celtic regarding Celtic Boys Club abuse cases

Celtic are facing additional legal proceedings in relation to alleged historic abuse linked to Celtic Boys Club. Law firm Digby Brown Solicitors confirmed it has lodged a case at the Court of Session in Edinburgh on behalf of an alleged survivor.

The development follows events last year when Celtic FC issued an apology concerning historic sexual abuse associated with Celtic Boys Club, after a group legal action resulted in a multi-million-pound settlement.

Richard Pitts, a partner at Digby Brown in Edinburgh, said survivors should be given the time they need to process their experiences before deciding how to proceed. He explained that, nearly four decades on, his client now feels ready to pursue legal action. Pitts confirmed the firm is investigating claims of historic abuse connected to Celtic Boys Club but said no further details could be shared at this stage, adding that support would continue throughout the legal process.

Celtic FC has been approached for a response.

Previously, Thompsons Solicitors represented around 30 former Celtic Boys Club players in the group case against Celtic Plc that concluded last year.

The earlier legal action concerned abuse carried out at the youth organisation — which was not formally part of Celtic FC — by individuals later convicted, including James Torbett and Frank Cairney.
