Rangers’ £20,000-a-week talent linked with potential 49ers sale

In a blow that could seriously dent Danny Rohl’s plans, Rangers’ owners are prepared to listen to major offers for one of their key players this summer — but only if a crucial condition is met.

Rohl embracing a “special” week

Rohl believes his work at Ibrox is only just beginning. Since taking charge, the German has overseen a dramatic upturn in form, with Rangers even in a position to end the weekend at the top of the Scottish Premiership depending on results against Hearts.

That clash will grab most of the headlines, but a tricky test against Motherwell comes first. The Steelmen proved stubborn opponents in December, when Rangers needed a second-half strike from Thelo Aasgaard to edge the contest. Another gritty display may be required.

Despite the pressure, Rohl is relishing the occasion. He spoke of his excitement about a “special” run of fixtures, highlighting the rare chance to tackle two huge matches in the space of a week.

He stressed the importance of home support and said these are the moments players and managers live for, while also reminding his squad that they still have important work to handle in other league fixtures.

Still, supporters have more than just results to worry about.

49ers weighing up Gassama sale

According to reports, the 49ers group would consider selling Djeidi Gassama if Rangers fail to secure Champions League qualification by finishing outside the top two.

The club turned down a significant £10 million bid from AS Monaco in January, underlining how highly the attacker is valued.

However, the financial pull of a similar offer in the summer — combined with missing out on Champions League revenue — could change the picture. In that scenario, Rangers may find it difficult to resist cashing in on one of their most influential attacking talents.
