What financial reward awaits Celtic if they win their Europa League knockout match?

Celtic FC have already secured an additional €300,000 in UEFA performance payments after progressing to the Europa League knockout play-off round.

Martin O’Neill’s side came through the league phase and will now face VfB Stuttgart, with the first leg scheduled for Thursday.

There is a significant financial incentive riding on the tie. Unlike the league phase — where clubs collected €450,000 for a win and €150,000 for a draw — the knockout rounds operate on a qualification-based payment structure. That means there are no bonuses for individual match results at this stage. If Celtic are eliminated, they will not receive any further UEFA performance money, regardless of whether they win or draw either leg.

However, should they progress to the last 16, the Hoops would pocket an additional €1.75 million from UEFA as a performance bonus.

Match officials confirmed

Belgian referee Erik Lambrechts will take charge of the knockout clash. He will be assisted by compatriots Mathias Hillaert and Kevin Monteny, while Jasper Vergoote has been appointed as fourth official.

Overseeing VAR duties will be Bram Van Driessche, with Dutch official Pol van Boekel serving as assistant VAR.
