Bobby Thomas has admitted his long-term future at Coventry City will be assessed at the end of the season, as speculation continues to grow around the defender.
The 25-year-old has been a vital part of Coventry’s promotion push in the Championship, registering two goals and four assists across 26 league appearances. Under Frank Lampard, the Sky Blues currently sit top of the table and are chasing a return to the Premier League for the first time since 2001.
Thomas joined the club from Burnley in the summer of 2023 following their play-off final defeat to Luton Town. His current contract runs until June 2027, but with interest mounting from Everton, Brentford and Leeds United, questions have been raised about whether he could move on sooner rather than later.
Addressing the situation, Thomas insisted his priority remains firmly on securing promotion.
“To be honest, I was looking at getting this season out of the way and concentrating on doing what we all need to do and get to where we want to get to,” he said. “And then it’s something to evaluate at the end of the season. I don’t think I want to get caught up in something like that at the moment.”
Coventry recently handed new contracts to Liam Kitching, Jay Dasilva and Milan van Ewijk, strengthening the core of the squad. However, Thomas’ situation remains unresolved as the club battle for automatic promotion.
The Sky Blues moved three points clear at the summit after a 2-0 victory over West Brom, with Ephron Mason-Clark and Jack Rudoni on target. Attention now turns to a crucial away clash against Sheffield United on February 25 as Coventry look to maintain their momentum.
