Main reason why Hull City winger Hirakawa set to miss rest of season

Hull City winger Yu Hirakawa will miss the remainder of the season after suffering an ankle injury.

The 25-year-old Japan international, on loan from Bristol City, picked up the injury during Saturday’s home defeat to Queens Park Rangers.

Manager Sergej Jakirovic told BBC Radio Humberside: “It’s very bad news, he must have surgery. It’s terrible news. He adapted here very well and he played good, but unfortunately no luck.”

Jakirovic also revealed that full-back Ryan Giles could be sidelined for around six weeks with a hamstring injury suffered in Tuesday’s 4-2 win over Derby County. “I don’t know what the damage is there, but from my experience it is six weeks,” the Hull boss said.
