The reigning champions are embroiled in a tight three-way battle for the Scottish Premiership, with Rangers and Hearts also in contention and only six points separating the trio.
Speaking to Sky Sports ahead of Sunday’s Glasgow Derby at Ibrox, Chris Sutton shared his thoughts on the title race. He noted that while Celtic have a game in hand, the squad lacks the strength it has shown in previous seasons. “Celtic will need to raise their level if they hope to win the title, but I just can’t see it happening this season,” he said.
Sutton also commented on other factors influencing the league, particularly transfer activity. “I expected the January window to be a battle, and Celtic came up short,” he remarked, criticizing the club’s recruitment as far below expectations.
Turning to the front-runners, he suggested Hearts hold the advantage. “All three teams are likely to drop points as the season progresses, but Hearts are in the driving seat with a four-point lead over Rangers,” Sutton said.
