It’s getting late for Celtic to finish up business this month, even though it’s expected that deals will go both ways at Parkhead.

Brendan Rodgers will want to get fringe players off the books so that they can get regular minutes somewhere else. This will free up money that would have been spent on wages on wages for possible new players.

Yosuke Ideguchi, Hyeokkyu Kwon, and Adam Montgomery have all left the club this month and gone to different places. Other than those three, there haven’t been many reported departures in Glasgow’s east end.

They are said to be waiting for the go-ahead to move forward with their plans to bring Republic of Ireland international Mikey Johnston to the Hawthorns on loan.

Benjamin Siegrist, Yuki Kobayashi, Alexandro Bernabei, and James McCarthy could also leave if the right time comes up in the last few days of the transfer window [Football Scotland].

Marco Tilio could also go somewhere else as the Hoops cut down their roster because of some bad choices they’ve made about hiring players in the past few years.

Gustaf Lagerbielke is almost ready to leave Celtic.
Gustaf Lagerbielke joined Celtic last year for around £3 million, but he has only played nine times in all competitions under Rodgers and has only scored once, in the Champions League against Feyenoord.

The Sweden player seems to have been turned down by his club, but he is now almost certain to move to Lecce in Italy on a loan deal with an option to buy, which would let him leave for good in the summer.

On the social media site X, Sky Sports reporter Anthony Joseph talked about the different ways that a move could happen.

Celtic’s confusing approach to hiring players

It’s true that Celtic shop in a market where they sometimes have to take a chance on promise, which means that some players they see may not make the cut for whatever reason.

Still, the Scottish Premiership winners have had a shockingly low success rate with signing players over the last year, especially when you consider how much money they have at their disposal.

After almost three transfer windows, you could say that only Alistair Johnston, Luis Palma, and maybe even Paulo Bernardo and Maik Nawrocki, given time, have helped make the starting lineup better.

Some of the others might become Celtic players in the future, but there are good reasons for fans to be worried about how players are hired at Parkhead.
