Gareth Bale has reached out to prospective Sheffield Wednesday owner David Storch, wishing him success as he looks to complete a takeover of the Championship side.
Wednesday have endured a turbulent season both on and off the pitch, largely due to the financial struggles of former owner Dejphon Chansiri. The club was plunged into administration in October following months of unpaid wages, leading to a points deduction from the EFL Championship standings and leaving them searching for new ownership.
There may now be hope on the horizon, with a consortium led by American businessman Storch named as the preferred bidder. He has publicly committed to finalising a deal, and his recent interaction on social media caught the attention of Bale, who replied with a simple message of support wishing him luck.
The former Real Madrid and Tottenham Hotspur star has previously expressed an interest in moving into football ownership or a boardroom role since retiring in 2023. He was part of a bid to purchase Cardiff City, and has also been linked with involvement in a potential takeover at Plymouth Argyle.
While it remains unclear whether Bale will play any formal role at Hillsborough, his message has sparked excitement among supporters, with some even jokingly calling for him to come out of retirement and play.
