Update on Green Brigade ban as Celtic Fans Collective respond to The Celtic Star report
Following an exclusive report from The Celtic Star regarding the ongoing situation at Celtic FC, the Celtic Fans Collective have released a fresh statement addressing the continued ban on the Green Brigade.
Originally introduced as a three-match suspension, the ban has now extended beyond five months. For much of that time, Celtic strongly defended keeping the restriction in place.
However, the club’s stance appears to have shifted recently, now suggesting they are open to the group’s return but are being held back by guidance from the Safety Advisory Group (SAG).
In response, the Celtic Fans Collective have challenged that explanation. They argue that responsibility ultimately lies with the club, not external bodies. According to their statement, the narrative that SAG is preventing the Green Brigade’s return is misleading.
The debate has been further fuelled by comparisons with Rangers FC, who are said to have received similar advice regarding their own ultras group, the Union Bears. Unlike Celtic, Rangers are believed to have handled the matter internally rather than relying solely on external recommendations.
As a result, the Fans Collective insist that the continuation of the Green Brigade ban—like other supporter-related restrictions—remains a decision made by Celtic themselves.
The situation continues to generate tension among supporters, with growing calls for clarity and accountability from the club over how the issue is being managed.
