Celtic Fc Latest injury report: On the 24 years-old Defender Stephen Welsh as Cameron Carter-Vickers Return date to the club is revealed
Since Gustaf Lagerbielke isn’t a big part of Brendan Rodgers’ plans, he was kept on at Celtic in January for a reason.
Last month, there was talk that the summer signing might leave, but Cameron Carter-Vickers got hurt again and had to stay.
Well, another reason Gustaf Lagerbielke stayed is that Stephen Welsh might have hurt himself during Celtic’s win over Hibernian on Wednesday night.
Based on what Brendan Rodgers told Sky Sports after the game, the 24-year-old was taken off because he “felt tight in his hamstring.”
Today (Thursday), the medical team will find out how bad his problems really are. Fans will then know what to do.
Stephen Welsh wasn’t really doing much when he was taken off with a yellow card just after the hour mark.
But it looks like Brendan Rodgers will have to change his back four again, and that’s on top of the fact that Alistair Johnston hurt his head.
Latest on Stephen Welsh’s injury
Rodgers should have more faith in Maik Nawrocki.
The Polish back started the draw at Aberdeen, so it was strange to see him on the bench for the April Road trip.
Celtic paid a lot of money for him, and he should be given a lot of chances to show what he can do.
He won’t be able to play at his best if he is in and out all the time. His game will lack focus and flow, and he will make mistakes.
Rodgers said, “He felt tight in his hamstring.” “That’s why we need to talk about it with the medical team tomorrow (Thursday).”
This possible injury to Welsh is bad news for the player, but it should allow Nawrocki to play more games.
What Brendan Rodgers said at the press conference and why Carter-Vickers is important to Celtic
Celtic fans are looking forward to the return of key defender Cameron Carter-Vickers, but they will have to wait a little longer. Manager Brendan Rodgers revealed this at a recent press conference. Even though he is getting better, the strong defender will not be able to play in this weekend’s game against St. Mirren. “He is back out on the training pitch, but he won’t be ready for the weekend,” Rodgers told Celtic fans on YouTube, which made them feel both happy and sad.
Throughout the season, Carter-Vickers’ loss has been felt strongly. The American international has been dealing with recurring injuries that have kept him out more often than the team would like. Celtic has had a hard time with his inconsistent presence, especially since he was so important to their treble-winning season before. His bravery, especially in the Scottish Cup semi-final against Rangers, where he played great defense even though he was hurt, showed how important he was to the team.
Last season, the defender showed how strong and determined he was by waiting to have surgery to help the team until we were pretty much safe. There have been many hurdles on the way back to being consistently match fitness.
Celtic’s plans for the rest of the season depend a lot on having their best players ready and in good shape. When Carter-Vickers finally comes back to the middle of Celtic’s defense, it will be very important. Because of his knowledge, leadership, and ability to organize the defense, he is an essential part of Rodgers’ team.
The defender can’t play in this weekend’s game because it’s too soon, but his return to training is a good sign.
