Why Celtic Fc 21 years-old Danish professional footballer target Mathias Kvistgaarden failed to join the Parkhead this transfer window summer
Celtic has been interested in the scorer for the past two transfer windows because Brendan Rodgers wants to add a new forward.
Jesper Sorensen, the manager of Brondby, says that “market forces” did not change so Mathias Kvistgaarden could join Celtic, even though he said in January that a price could have been reached.
But he said he wouldn’t stop the 21-year-old Danish scorer if he wanted to move to the Scottish Premiership in the summer. Parkhead has been very interested in the Danish striker for the last two transfer windows. An offer worth more than £4m was allegedly turned down in the summer.
That interest came back in January, but the Hoops ran into a big problem: Brondby wouldn’t let any first-team stars leave, even though they were in a three-way tie for the Danish Super League title with Copenhagen and Midtjylland. Brendan Rodgers would get the striker he wanted from the winter transfer window by loaning Adam Idah from Norwich City to Celtic.
If you asked Sorensen about how firm the club was when Celtic tried to sign Kvistgaarden in the winter transfer window, he said they might change their stance if a huge offer came in. Bold’s boss said, “Then there are market forces that can change that.”
“But I said what I thought.” Additionally, Brondby’s head of football, Cartsen V. Jensen, has been very clear from the start that we do not want to sell our best players. When I hear rumors about a person, I can’t go in and get them right away, but it was important to tell Kvistgaarden that he needs to do everything he can. Every day he has to train hard to get better at the game. He needs to pay attention to what’s coming up in Brondby.
When asked if he had told the player to stay at Brondby past the end of the current season, Sorensen said, “No, I’m not going to tell Kvist what the smart thing to do is.” I tell him what to do on the field, and I tell him a lot ahead of time.
