Reason why Man United 27-year-old Midfielder Scott McTominay is absent from Manchester United squad vs Liverpool

The defender Scott McTominay from Manchester United has not been added to the team that will play Liverpool in the Premier League.

Merseysiders are back at Old Trafford for this league match, exactly three weeks after United’s amazing extra-time Emirates FA Cup win. However, the Scotland international is not in the starting lineup or the replacements list for this match.

Last month’s cup match was very important for the 27-year-old, who scored our first goal, set up Marcus Rashford’s goal, and played the whole game.

McTominay has played two full 90-minute games for his country since that cup match. He started against Brentford with United at the end of March and came on for Casemiro in the last 15 minutes of the game against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

There had been no signs before that he might not be able to play today against the Merseysiders, but Ten Hag’s 20-man team does not include him.

The manager has not yet said why McTominay is not playing, but we can confirm that Scott has been added to United’s long list of injured players. This means the Dutch manager will have one less midfielder to choose from in the Sunday afternoon match.

His injury and how long he is supposed to be out will probably be made public at some point.

This is Ten Hag’s latest injury trouble. On Thursday night, both Raphael Varane and Jonny Evans, two center backs, got hurt in the away game in the capital.

The center-backs are also not in the lineup to play the Merseysiders, and their possible return dates have not been announced yet.

The good news is that this turn of events has given defender Willy Kambwala his second start with the first team, and fellow Academy graduate Harry Amass his first appearance with the adult United team.
