Latest Manchester City News: Man City reveals their full UCL squad against Real madrid
City is worried about a few things on defense before Tuesday’s first leg of their Champions League quarterfinal in Madrid.
It’s important for Manchester City to get a win even though Kyle Walker and Nathan Ake aren’t with them when they go to Madrid.
Walker and Ake are two of Pep Guardiola’s ten most-used players this season. Walker would have been a good fit to play against Vinicius Jr. after keeping the Real Madrid star quiet last year. But the England player got hurt during the international break, and Nathan Ake had to leave City’s game against Arsenal in their first game back.
Walker came out for a one-on-one workout on Monday while the rest of the team got ready for the first leg of their Champions League quarterfinal, but he is not yet healthy enough to fly. Ake didn’t show up to training at all and can’t play.
There was a small problem with Josko Gvardiol, so he was taken off at halftime at Crystal Palace on Saturday. His absence from training on Monday was also a worry. The Croatian has traveled with the team, but it’s still not clear how fit he is. At his press conference on Monday night, Guardiola may be asked about the health of his team.
City also has doubts about a fourth defender, Ruben Dias, who is one yellow card away from being banned for one game in the tournament. Even though City has problems, Carlo Ancelotti, the manager of Real Madrid, thinks that the Blues have more than enough talent to make up for the absences. Ancelotti will not have his first choice goalie Thibault Courtois.
Monday, he said, “They have players off, but they have handled things very well.” “Guardiola has made central defenders play like wingers, and they’re doing a great job at the back.” They will still be able to play even if some of their stars are sick.
The following players are on the road with City: Goal keeper Ederson, Ortega, Carson, Lewis, Akanji, Luis Dias, Stones, Gvardiol, Gomez, Rodri, Susoho, Mateo Kovacic, Nunes, Silva, Bobb, Kevin De Bruyne, Phil Foden, Doku, jack Grealish, Alvarez, and Erling Haaland.
