After defeating St. Mirren by a score of 3-0 on Saturday afternoon, Celtic have climbed up to the top of the Scottish Premiership, leaving them four points ahead of their rivals.

In the 52nd minute, Reo Hatate was the hero who started the scoring by unleashing a spectacular top-corner finish beyond Zach Hemming. This goal was the first of the game.

Following that, Kyogo Furuhashi scored his sixteenth goal of the season with a powerful header that was a direct result of Alistair Johnston’s excellent cross that was delivered from the right side.

Finally, only five minutes before the end of the game, second-half substitute Adam Idah completed the score to continue his strong performance while on loan.

Out of the fixture, what are the most significant talking points that have emerged? The following are three of ours:

As far as we’ve seen throughout the season, the opening half-hour was about as frustrating as any other we’ve encountered thus far.

Over the whole of that first period, Celtic had a 72% possession of the ball, but they were only able to make one shot attempt, which was not even considered to be on target.

At first glance, it appeared as though the Bhoys were going to have yet another anxious and nervous day. However, to the team’s credit, they regrouped at halftime and emerged from the break with a different mindset.

According to what Brendan Rodgers has stated prior to the start of this season, it would be quite strange if a few home truths were not broadcast in the locker room in order to elicit a response from the players.

The beginning of the game was not even close to being satisfactory, but the team’s determination to win was evident, much to the satisfaction of the spectators. When it comes to that team, the chemistry is working.

Remembering Reo Hatate’s words

Hatate has not scored for Celtic since the team’s victory over Kilmarnock by a score of 3-1 in October, which was before today. In the time since his recent comeback from injury, he has demonstrated a few flashes of his potential, but tonight was the first time that he truly demonstrated how influential he can be.

It was his magnificent finish with the outside of the boot from the edge of the box that helped Celtic break out of a performance rut that they had been experiencing this afternoon. When the fight for the title is close, those moments of individual brilliance are of the utmost importance.

Even in the midst of what had been a very lackluster display, the Japanese midfielder’s ability came to the forefront to motivate his teammates towards a comfortable victory. He is a joy to watch, and his ability was a major factor in the eventual victory. He possesses a unique set of skills.
