Breaking News: Manchester United have finally found a replacement for the 28-year-old forward Anthony Martial who is five (5) times better
This coming summer, Manchester United will be looking to acquire a new striker, and it is possible that they could revive their interest in a player who was once a target for them.
It is common knowledge that Manchester United will undergo a number of personnel adjustments during the summer, regardless of what occurs between now and the conclusion of the current season.
Following the confirmation of Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s minority stake in February, the industrialist who was born in Failsworth has wasted little time in establishing his dominance at Old Trafford. Following the immediate resolution of pressing off-field difficulties, the focus will shortly shift to improving the squad in preparation for the 2024–2025 season.
According to a report that was published in February by the Manchester Evening News, United is expecting record sales levels. It is not out of the question that the quantity of players that are released or sold could get into the double digits.
Not only will United need to make use of the transfer market in order to get rid of players, but it is also likely that they will take use of players whose contracts are about to expire in order to clear the decks. As far as Anthony Martial is concerned, this is going to be the situation.
As a result of the Frenchman’s contract expiring at the end of June and the fact that he will not be offered new terms, his nine-year association with M16 will come to an end. This will result in Rasmus Hojlund being the only senior center-forward who is considered to be an out-and-out player for the club. Erik ten Hag, United’s manager, has already announced that the club will be required to take action in response to that by acquiring a second striker in the same number of years.
“I think it would help [to sign a striker],” he stated to reporters. As I have always believed, the plan that we built should have included a sufficient number of objectives. You can count on Rashy (Marcus Rashford) to score goals; in the previous season, he scored thirty goals. You can also count on Martial to score goals.
Ten Hag has brought attention to the fact that the impending departure of Martial would result in a gap within the team that needs to be completely filled. United paid Atalanta £64 million to acquire Hojlund from them during the summer of 2017, and he was instantly elevated to the position of first-choice goal-getter for the club.
At the age of just 21, United signed the Dane with the intention of him becoming the face of their attack line for years to come. This means that it is highly unlikely that they will spend an exorbitant amount of money on another striker this summer when they simply need a backup or rotation option. Because of this, the rumors that United is rumored to be acquiring Ivan Toney, Victor Osimhen, and even Harry Kane appear to be fairly implausible.
Instead, United could do worse than choose to investigate a path that they have explored in the past and investigate the possibility of rekindling their interest in Benjamin Sesko. During the summer transfer window of 2022, the striker from RB Leipzig, who was now playing for Red Bull Salzburg, was on the radar of Manchester United of the United Football Club.
After former football director John Murtough met with his agent to discuss the potential of a transfer, United reportedly considered making a play for him. This information was revealed by the Manchester Evening News at the time. When Ten Hag was in charge of United for the first time, the club ultimately did not wind up hiring a striker during that summer.
In June of 2023, Sesko, who was 20 years old at the time, made the move to RB Leipzig, Vienna’s sister club, following yet another successful season at Salzburg in 2022/23. Not only did he sign a contract that was for five years, but he has also scored a decent total of thirteen goals in 37 appearances so far this season.
Also a topic of rumored attention from Newcastle in the past, the Slovenian striker is widely regarded as one of the most promising strikers in European football. This is due to the fact that he is able to break through defensive lines, press effectively, and pose a threat in the air. Another encouraging statistic for a player who will not turn 21 until the end of the following month is the fact that he has scored 42 goals over the course of the past three seasons.
Sesko is claimed to have a release clause within his Leipzig contract that will become active this summer and is estimated to be worth £42 million. This information comes from a number of different sites. It is highly unlikely that United will be able to get Toney, Osimhen, or Kane for such a modest fee. As a result of the difficulties surrounding FFP and PSR, all Premier League teams are experiencing difficulties in the transfer market. United will be no exception to this trend this summer, as they will be required to begin the process of rebuilding their roster. Whenever they are able to save money in one area, it will be a lift for them in other areas.
In spite of the fact that forty-two million pounds is not exactly a cheap sum, it has the potential to be a brilliant investment due to Sesko’s profile and his age.
“Benjamin Sesko is among the game’s top young talents and has enormous potential to become a top player,” claimed Christopher Vivell, the technical director of Leipzig. “He has the potential to become a top player.” “He possesses all of the qualities necessary to accomplish that.
“He is incredibly quick, possesses a great jump on him, and is powerful in the air,” the coach said. Benjamin, despite his height of 1.95 meters (6 feet 4 inches), is a great striker who is both mobile and technically powerful. The fact that he possesses such powers makes him a unique player with a unique profile.
Sesko’s personality and playing style have the potential to offer United a lot of benefits during the summer transfer window.
