The team led by Erik ten Hag plays Crystal Palace on Monday and wants to end a run of bad results against the Eagles.

It is no secret that Manchester United is not doing nearly as well as they did last season.

In recent weeks, Erik ten Hag’s team lost their chance to qualify for the UEFA Champions League. The only good thing now for the Red Devils is a second straight FA Cup final against Manchester City.

Manchester United’s dreams of finishing in the top seven were once again dashed by a 1-1 draw with relegation-threatened Burnley just a few days ago. Newcastle United are now breathing down their necks as the race for European qualification looks set to go right down to the wire.

There is a chance that the Magpies could finish as high as fifth, so they might be hoping to avoid going to the Europa League next season.

It is important to note, though, that Manchester United will have to wait until all of their top-six rivals have played this weekend. On Monday, they have to go to Crystal Palace. But Ten Hag hasn’t had much luck at Selhurst Park either. In his time in England, the Dutchman hasn’t been able to get a win there.

Actually, the last time the Red Devils avoided Palace’s home ground with three points was in July 2020, when they beat them 2-0 under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial scored the goals that helped Man Utd get there.

This weekend, things will be the same for Newcastle as usual because Burnley, led by Vincent Kompany, is in their way. Eddie Howe’s team would move ahead of the FA Cup winners if they win at Turf Moor. This would be a huge step toward qualifying for Europe this season.
