Arsenal player Bukayo Saka gives his own verdict on the awful tackle incident by Ryan Christie during Arsenal 3 -0 Bournemouth match
If Ryan Christie makes a bad tackle on Arsenal winger Bukayo Saka in the first half, it could hurt him against AFC Bournemouth.
Arsenal winger Bukayo Saka has shown how badly he was hurt when AFC Bournemouth player Ryan Christie tackled him.
Satoshi Saka had to get medical help early in the game because Christie hit him hard in the leg. After David Coote gave the free kick, nothing else happened.
This ruling made Saka very angry, and he argued his case to the fourth official while he waited to be brought back into the case. According to Football.london, the challenge was looked at by VAR and thrown out because the tackle was deemed careless and not risky.
If the tackle was seen as dangerous, the officials at Stockley Park could have told Coote to look at the video on his computer and possibly show him a red card. However, VAR can only do so much. For example, they can’t tell refs to give yellow cards for tackles that were not punished by the stadium officials.
The FA says that a “reckless” charge only gets you a yellow card and not a red. Lucky for the Gunners, Saka was able to keep playing after the tackle. He scored the first goal when he converted a penalty right before halftime after visiting goalie Mark Travers brought down Kai Havertz in the area.
Christie wasn’t sent off, but that doesn’t seem to have hurt Arsenal’s chances of winning either, as Leandro Trossard doubled the home team’s lead with 20 minutes left. There was no stopping Saka, though, from showing how badly hurt he was after Christie’s hit.
