Eddie Howe said that Bruno Guimaraes’ £100 million release clause in his deal ends at the end of June. He thinks that this is a smart move to avoid a summer of rumors.

Manchester City, Arsenal, and Paris Saint-Germain all want to sign the Brazilian, and the club expects to hear about him after the season is over.

Howe is clear that he wants to keep Guimaraes at St. James’ Park, and he thinks that making it hard for his release clause to be used will help him.

He said, “Having that was well planned and structured by the club, in the sense that there is a finish point.” “This rumors need to stop. I don’t think it’s good for the player or for us.”

They got the 26-year-old playmaker from Lyon for £40 million in January 2022. Since then, he’s become worth at least twice as much, and Howe said, “It goes without saying that I think we want to keep Bruno and build our team around him.”

He is very important to what we’re doing. He’s been in great shape. He looks really happy and at ease. He will be thinking about how busy the summer will be and where we can take the team as a big part of that. I can’t change that, though, so let’s see.

Howe, meanwhile, says he hasn’t been told who will be the next sports director yet, even though the hiring process is almost over. Thursday, Mail Sport reported that Dougie Freedman, the manager of Crystal Palace, is in the race.

Howe said, “If the club wanted to ask me what I thought, I’d be happy to.” There has been no such thing so far, and I respect and understand that.

“But it’s a very important meeting, we need to do it right.” No matter who it is, we need to work together very closely to move the team forward and make smart choices for the club’s future. It’s a very important meeting for us.

Just make sure it’s the best person for the job. It doesn’t matter what country they are from; I just want the best person to help the club move forward.

When does he want that meeting to happen?

“I think I’d rather they were here yesterday,” Howe said. “I think it’s important to keep working together and build that relationship, and we need to do that as soon as possible.”
